Mount Trashmore Challenge

That's right! The Trashmore Challenge is back and better than ever. Climbing Mt. Trashmore 140 times is equivalent to scaling Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world! Walk, bike, or run up and down the mountain, earning coupons to local businesses along the way.

event as we celebrate 2023 and look toward 2024 and beyond.
This annual event is a ticketed luncheon held
at the Olympic South Side Theater, 1202 3rd Street SE.
A highlight of this event is the announcement of the
Robert Chadima Visionary Awards.

Taste of the District
September 12
We welcome you to join us on Thursday, September 12th from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. for cocktails and heavy appetizers provided by District restaurants and food vendors, live music by Billy Heller and mingling with friends while supporting The District’s mission and programming. Individual tickets include $20 in District Dollars to spend with our participating District Merchants.
Here's what you can expect:
- A full tasting of six different appetizers served by different restaurants and food vendors all housed in The District
- Two drink tickets to use at The Olympic's full service bar.
- A Silent Auction with exclusive offers and experiences from shops & services in Czech Village & New Bohemia

Celebrate "Shop Small Weekend" in the District starting with Plaid Friday on Friday, November 29th. The shopping continues with Small Business Saturday, on November 30th. This is a day to support Cedar Rapids owned and operated businesses and strengthen our local economy.

In collaboration with the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Cherry Building, NewBo City Market, Czech Village Association and other partners, The District hosts a variety of holiday-themed events the first weekend in December.
